Daphne Minkoff - Edges of Unmaking

In Edges of Unmaking, Daphne Minkoff explores the ways memory accumulates within the built environment. Her mixed-media paintings examine urban landscapes in transition, tracing what remains after places begin to disappear. Drawing inspiration from boarded-up houses, aging storefronts, overlooked structures, and abandoned automobiles, the work reflects on the transformation of place and the quiet histories embedded within it. Many of the buildings depicted have already vanished, replaced by contemporary mixed-use developments and condominiums. Their absence raises broader questions about memory, identity, and what is lost when familiar spaces quietly disappear from the urban fabric.
